Should get a receipt yes, but you don't need this to file a claim.
If I was you, give it a bit longer to see if it turns up, then ask for a refund and leave it up to the sender to claim the money back from Royal Mail.

Very doubtful that Royal Mail would accept something the size and weight of a strutbrace, it sounds like the seller is feeding you a load of **** tbh.
I sent a strutbrace with royal mail.
This thread is not about me tho,Lol.
on there site it says 20kg and 1.5m max
i've recieved a strut brace via poyal mail before... i paif for a gte exhaust system and the guy said he'd sent it and never did as i rang the courier service. he gave me a refund, but still says he sent it
The memeber in question has just pmd me saying he cannot give me a contact number as he is not on the phone and says for all he knows i might have recived it and just saying i havent........
Do you really think ide waste me time pming and posting about not reciving something if i had, im a member of 3 owners clubs and have never had any problems with postage.
Im not nameing the member just yet ile give him chance to sort the problem out first.
Ive asked for a refund then he can claim on the royal mail insurance, see what happens
