Help with nova merit+ 1.4i

Hi everyone. Ive just brought a 1992 Nova Merit plus 4dr 1.4i
Can you please advise me on the best alterations that can be done to give a little extra bhp without spending a fortune.
I am open to any suggestions and any help is greatly appreciated.
If anyone can point me to any decent sites for parts aswell as there are a number of little things that also need to be done to the car or even telephone numbers of breakers etc...

everythin in the 1.2i tuning guide applies to the 1.4i too

my best suggestion would be to fit mpi engine tho (or convert yours to mpi)
