    Default Car Won't Start

    i have a g-reg 1.2 nova star,have trouble in the past starting me car in these cold mornings but persistance and it always started.But when i tried this morning it wasn't having it at all.I have full oil,plenty of petrol,sprayed damp start and wd40 on spark plugs and battery terminals,but stil no good,used jump leads although car battery is kicking over jus no *bang* for it start up if u get wot i mean,recently passed mot with flying colours,can anyone help?Cheers

    i have a star too and its sh1t for starting. both my othrr novas were ok though. mine hadnt bin started for a few years though. once it gets warm it starts ok.

    Have you taken the dizzy cap off?, its probably full of water if so dry it out and spray some damp start in it!

    the dizzy cap transfers the power from rotor arm to the individual points for the HT leads. Pretty easy to find it mate look at the head and its on the end at the right.

    Or simply follow your leads from the spark plugs to where they go and thats it!

    Undo the two clips and pull it away, then check for water etc as said above

    perhaps clean up the contacts with a little emery cloth or summit
