Default blue smoke only at Top speed??

    Hi

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem, my car 1990 1.4SR (90K on clock) seem to puff out some blue smoke only at Top speed (105 mph)?? never before that, doesnt cause any problems though in performance etc and has never done this before on any of my cars!! strange, checked that the oil is not over filled ...this is fine.

    any advice would be helpful

    regards

    Matt

do you have the CR box cos 105 mph is well short of the top speed.
it may be your piston rigs are on there way out and at full whack a little oil is gettin past then. get a compression check. that will tell you if there is a problem. it could also be the valve stem seals. (more likely)

It is more likely to be the valve stem seals as they tend to go with age more than the piston rings.

tech spec for the 1400sr is 103mph top speed.

Your speedo might say 120, but they are renowned for major inaccuracies over 100mph.

Yeah, my very healthy 1.3 does 110 ish. Or 121 down very steep hill.
