A chemical treatment will never truly reverse one structure into another, however in my experience of sheet metalwork; vactan has the ability to react with bare metal better than any other initial treatment for the long term inhibition of corrosion. More so than even red oxide; which is why I suggest these chemicals in that order so that you do it once and never look back.
Fiberglass can be fine, but you're never really going to know until it's too late. Always gonna come down to how much prep time you invest in the fit & flattening prior to paint.
In a way though it is always a shame when the months roll by in a winter lockup and pristine metal reacts with the ambient moisture. No wonder builds in the states etc never have the same ballache.
Nice to see you’ve got this home at long last, you’ll have loads of fun I suspect getting all the expensive bits on now. What timescale have you set yourself on finishing it
Ta, hopefully get the front end tried on in the coming weeks. Away on holiday as of next week.
Thanks mate
Thanks for the info! I'll see how it goes with the fibreglass ones, I've got 2 sets incase something goes wrong haha got a set of steel ones too just incase. Yeah it's a pity but easily sorted out I guess.
Aye finally eh haha yeah should be fun, as long as the parts fit....
Not really got a timescale tbh, I'd like to say asap but getting married next year so I've got that to save for. Can't see the nova being allowed to be at the front of the queue haha
Here's the fibreglass ones.
Hopefully look original when fitted.
