Default Best ignition live source for aftermarket stereo

Right guys and gals so in my previous thread I mentioned I wanted to fit an aftermarket stereo in the nova because just listening to silence was dead boring so after speaking to a fellow member on here I'm aware of what needs to be done now, does anybody know where the best ignition live is under the steering column so in order for my stereo to turn on when ignition is on and when I switch the ignition off the stereo goes off? Comments appreciated as I don't want to fubar this up

You could use the heater fan live as your feed, and the hazard feed for the memory. I usually just install them on permanent live if I have to make my own wiring so I have to switch it on myself!

Does the stereo still switch on and off with the ignition by doing the way you have done mate?

I would take it from a live and switched live from the fusebox

would this be an easier solution than under the steering cowling? What fuses on fuse box are ignition lives chap? Tommorow is d-day on testing

Don't quote me but don't all nova's have the plug for the radio sub loom on the main loom? In witch case the "best" place would be there as it'd be fused as the radio in the fuse box. Even better get the sub loom and you don't need to do anything...

Mine doesn't have anything like that from what I see mate my looms all original untouched just has a weird t-piece plug and a single earth connector so I'm guessing with that I'll have to make my own ignition live and power with ground and connect speakers individually

Cigarette lighter? Can't remember if they're switched. Assuming you have one

Alternatively just wire in a permanent live, and remember to turn the head unit off when you exit the car!
