PROJECT 2 FAST 2 FAT clicky
''lifes what happens, while your busy making plans''
Thanks Craig and Andy, maybe I was a bit harsh but just because we talk over a keyboard doesn't mean we can dispense with politeness and respect and if someone wants us to listen to what they say about our projects, maybe they need to get their own one up so we can make comments about thiers!! I could type a massive long list of exactly how a car should be built, doesn't mean I can do it though does it!!!!!
TJ, yep red one is an R&D car, we know the tank is going back to standard position, and we've got a good idea on suspension setup now, so always learning!!

Cheers for the message over the mounts.
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one PepsiFar from suicidalStill I get them tendenciesBringing back them memories
That I really miss when I reminisce
Not sure it's a troll; just trying to help with another build based on the experiences with my beam. I found that the mount points not only take extra stress on the chassis legs but the holes themselves due to the extra weight.
Still enjoying this thread, car look brilliant
i hate hate typing as it never comes out as you mean, when I'm talking in person I can't shut up
No worries if somethings worth reading then it's worth a compliment.
Ah Mr House, nice to see you've calmed down a bit...
And finally someone has come to realise that sticking the fuel tank in the spare wheel well isn't necessarily all its cracked up to be, especially if you have to carry more than 5 litres or so (i.e. doing something other than a sprint or hill climb). Personally I've failed to see why you would move it from a point low down and between the wheels, a place that does its best to lower the CoG and reduce the polar moments (the thing that make a car easier to spin) of the car. Yes its a pain to add a tank gaurd for rallying purposes, but surely that what kevlar was invented for
I'm calm as a coma Mr TD!!!
I originally moved the tank to experiment with fueling issues, I was struggling with fuel starvation out of roundabouts, at the time of installing the tank there I had no intention of using the car on track or even using it in real anger, so the dynamics of having it in the boot weren't an issue. I was also looking for a way of removing the lift pump as, at the time, we thought I was suffering from fuel cavitation caused by the lift pump. A gravity fed swirl pot from a tank mounted high up made sense.
However, after discussions with Tim at the Phirm he's come up with an inline swirl pot that will allow us to go back to the original tank location and also run the lines externally aswell, all a learning process. As you correctly say the lower and closer to the middle of the car we can get the weight the less effect it will have on handling.
