Default Front Inner Wing Structure Pics . . .

    Evening all.
Would someone please post some detail pics of the structure of the front inner wings behind the suspension turrets.
I'm cutting out the rot on my SR at this point prior to welding and can't quite work out the structure there due to levels of rust.
Also in view of this, and the new metal required, is there anything to be gained in adding a plating kit (or parts of) ?
My plan is for a fast(ish) road spec with the original 1300 engine in a higher state of tune.
    Thanks in anticipation -
    Paul

Search the for sale section, there's a few pars for sale... You should be able to get an idea from their pics...

Yep, spotted those - but I'm really after pics of either that area on an original or correctly restored car.

Anybody on the strengthening plates ?

Can't remember whether I posted pictures detailing the areas you're in need of, but is worth having a scroll through my build thread to see if there's anything on there that might help.

As for plating kits, I would usually suggest plating for big block conversions, such as XE and LET; though in your case, doing so certainly wouldn't do any harm if you're going to be putting the old girl through her paces. The main plates you should be concerned about are for the o/s chassis legs around the engine mount and the n/s chassis near the gearbox mount, and the areas where the front suspension arms mount. Otherwise, a bit of stitch welding around the turrets where they join with the inner wings, as well as along the seam of the inner wings where they meet the chassis legs, and where the chassis legs are spot welded down the bulkhead helps, too; though, again, I wouldn't say is necessary but certainly won't do any harm. Just don't seam weld anything on your engine bay, otherwise the car won't be able to flex and will slowly begin to tear itself apart over time if you're giving it a bit of a beating.

The chassis plating kit I have in mind is the one from Chris Astley Motorsport, which is a 14-piece plating kit - that is the one I fitted.
