You'll need the rivet if you look at how they fix you'll know what I mean.

Are the rivets for underneath?

If you look at my build thread there is a picture on page 80 of the clip & rivet so you can visualise what they are.

The plastic clip fits over what looks like a small stud & you push right to lock it in place.
The rivet gives you this 'stud' to allow you to lock the clip in place as Vauxhall intend you do it!
