Default Nova two door saloon rolling shell for sale

Alright guys, my saloon has blown headgasket so needs new engine, had a quote for labour from my mechanic for around £500 so can't do it =(

So its up for sale as rolling shell, can't take the engine out myself so needs towing away obviously.

1985 two door saloon, 67k miles, full interior in amazing condition, paintwork not so amazing as expected but body work is really good, lowered on JOM adjustable coilovers 50mm, only rust is a tiny bit on bottom of doors, 6 months tax, plenty of MOT still, full history, new full exhaust few months ago, new alternator a month ago ( not that it really matters anymore haha ) perfect shell for new engine and project.

I don't really know ball park figures for a shell like this, but surely worth between £300-£400 right? Apologies if i'm supposed to put an actual price up but what can you offer me? Need to sell soon as I need to put the money towards something more practical for now.

Here's some piccys, let me know if interested, PM me if you need my number, i'm based in Norfolk.

For £500 for a headgasket doing on an 8v, is daylight robbery!
What engine is in it as I cannot see it in the advert?
If its an 8v its a couple of hours work and £30 ish in parts, (if you don't skim the head)

Why does it need a new engine?

apologies guys i jumped the gun a bit, i've been offered an engine in lincoln that i'm going to buy, and a mate of mine loves working on vauxhalls and will do it for me for £75. Can't turn that down, so looks like she'll be up and running again in a week or so.

@burgo - not sure mate, the mechanic said the engine is not fixable, and would be at least £370 labour to replace with an identical engine, 7 hours work, but as i'm looking at a 1.2 nova engine there may be other work involved ie. clutch and stuff so i'd be looking at £400-£500+

Not up for sale anymore, fingers crossed all goes well.

Good to hear it Hope you get It sorted bud, could be easily doable for a HELL of a lot cheaper than your origional quote, it's possible to put an xe in for that!

thanks fella, haha yeah i wish i had the funds for an xe! i think at the moment i'll take the 1.2 8v route just so i can keep driving it, then consider big block maybe next year.

I think on my cheapo budget i can look into getting gte/gsi cam, sr inlet and mani, gte/gsi full exhaust and put it on a diet haha, won't be the quickest thing about but as long as its a good laugh on the B roads i'm happy for now.

You are aware the 1.2 needs a different fuel tank, new fuel line, different exhaust. All the 1.2 hoses I thinm the gearbox may even be different
