Default VW Golf Mk2 Set To Sell For Over £100k On eBay

    Why you ask?

    http://www.ebay.de/itm/Historischer-...d=331741584813

Well, it was apparently owned by the German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel. Who knew she had such devoted fans?

The seller even has the original registration document to prove that it was in her posession between 1990 and 1995.

Finished in white, this three-door Mk2 Golf does look pretty good for its age after looking through the images on the listing – but that will be due to restoration by its current owner, following an accident.

Currently, bidding is approaching €130,000 which is over £107,000 – whatever restoration this person has carried out on the car has been well worth it! A substantial premium for a car that’s 22 years old with just 70bhp.

This is not the first time a Golf has sold for silly money, as in 2005 a Mk4 Golf owned previously by Pope Benedict XVI was sold to an American casino for an astonishing £127,000!

That is very clean but damn what a following she must have to warrant such a massive price. Always found it comical how them Golfs had a clock in place of a rev counter. When I was little I thought 'WOW... 12,000 rpms'

Even if I were the biggest fan of her I'd know what I'd rather spend 100G's on.. and it's not on a Golf that's for sure.
