Default Anyone insured a GTE at 17 ?

    hi all

thats me just turnerd 16 so its time to start thinking about isurance for my nova GTE

if you have saw my thread you will see that i have spent a lot of time and money on it
so i would really like to use it as my first car although there are a lot of people P***ing on my bonfire so to speak saying i will never insure it before my 21 and i am living in fantacy land

ive searched and found my cheapest quote to date has been £3800

i was thinking about classic insurance on a limited mileage or something

so i would like to hear your thoughts and where the best places are to try also has anyone else tryed insuring a GTE at 17 ?

    cheers andy

i had a white gte when i was 18 and i paid £1200 with 0 ncb and one years driving under my belt. Saying that it was back in 2001
To be honest mate £3800 seems about right on todays ripoff prices. My self being 29 6 years ncb im paying £720 on a sh%t box 106 diesel yet 2 years ago i was paying £600 for a mr2 turbo. If you want it you will just have to save buddy. good luck with it and the project ive been reading it

Personally id get a cheap corsa b 1.2 or something, drive for a year then insure the nova when its ever so slightly cheaper and your a bit more experianced. There are exceptions (myself included) but sadly statistics say you will write your first car off. (one of the many many reasons for premiums being so high)
Otherwise be prepared to be bent over by them (im 26, payed 800 on my astra vxr, sold that and got a cheap mk4 astra sxi and i got back 29quid for the remaining 6 months on my policy.. work that one out!!)

    It's mad how at 18 a 1.3sr cost me £85 a month and then at 26 £13 a month on a 1.2spi

when i was 17, (13 years ago) my first car was a ford escort rs1600i mk3, and cost me £2300 to insure, wasnt bad at the time, i do feel for you younger people these days, its shocking how much they charge!

Seems quite cheap for a GTE with your details. I was paying £1850 for a 1.4 MK3 astra as my first car, and now i'm paying the equivalent of £3K a year for a 1.25 fiesta, with 2 years ncb, while the Nova is off the road. I'm afraid you can't get a classic policy under 21 either mate.

With most Classic Car policies, you need to be at least 21.
