The Corsa bottom end is different, in that the bore/stroke is entirely different.

yup. I had a similar problem. It would be a lot easier for you to find a complete 12008v engine. I failed to do this and regretted it. There is a member who had one for sale a while ago but due to the update I can't find the thread.

its probably the water pump or alternator... or even a wheel/gearbox bearing, cos if you are doing 80-85mph in it, the engine would have blown if it had a whine from the bottom end.

the 12st had 55hp new, and managed about 90 flat out
the 12spi had 45hp new & you can stall it by attaching a piece of string from the rear of the car to some rice pudding skin.

anything else is bull shyte, or involves a big hill or a badly reading speedometer.

    I had 105ish out of my old blue(ish ) Mk1 1200ST.
BUT I will openly admit I was headed down a huge hill. I have had 100 out of her flat though. But we all know that nova speedos aren't exactly 100% accurate

    Are you for real?

A Nova forum is possibly the least likely place to get true, unbiased replies.
