It depends on what you mean by without changing the gearbox?

You can buy engines and gearboxs together so you could fit a 2.5 V6 stright from a calibra, or a 2.0L 8v, 16v or a 16v turbo with a F20 or modified F28 gearbox.

All depends on what you want to do, you could fit any engine you want.
I've seen a mini with a V8 lump in it and another one with a 2.0L 16v red top lump in it.

Ah i see. PVD do a conversion kit that comes with modified mounts eg the bar from bodywork to engine. Check the website out, go to
www.pvdnet.co.uk then click the M-Tech icon.

But you can buy modified rubber mounts which does the samething. To find out more about them go to

www.topbuzz.co.uk which also tells you about how to fit a 2.0L lump.

    Hope that helps you more.

1600 8v would be the easisest, cheapest, quickest.

    would a valver be much harder, as i either wanted a 1.4 16v or a 1.6 16v?

Only worth fitting one of those if your prepared to spend ?kk's on moding it as the 8v's can be tuned muche cheaper.
