Yep, but wiring is the same on the saloon as it is on the hatchback.

i wired it up as this diagram said and it only worked on full power. then wired it like for like and it worked, are you sure you have all wires wired up?
if there are any double's coming from the mk2 then splice them into the one from the mk1 if that makes sense.
just double check you have all wires covered, or wire them lightly with no wire just to test it, is what i did.,
    check fuses also??

What did people do for the heater cables? I know you need mk2 cables and i have them. Was just wondering how they mount as after a quick look earlier they are different?

I've just checked the wiring diagrams with my car (as the dashboard is out at the mo) and all is wired up as per the instructions and working.

Not sure what you mean about the heater cables not fitting - both Mk1 and Mk2 have the same ends (heater end), only the control end is different, hence needing Mk2 cables...

Resistor on the blower motor could be dead - mine went the same way, replaced with a spare and it worked.

just done this today, went pretty well, except had to extend the earth wire for the headunit and now it doesnt have any power ? i will have a look tomorrow, also my mk2 center console does not go far enough under the dash and doesnt sit correctly it sits to far back. another problem i have encouterd is that the steering cowling when screwing it up to the colum it doesnt match the holes in the mk1 colum.
also what do you do with the rear wiper switch on the mk2 dash ????
