    does anybody have any opinions about them? im wanting to get the 18" its rated as 4000w RMS.. how many db's would that b? and seriously, whats the most damage that would do?? heh, im a nutter, but i AM serious about this! :!:

    Not sure what db it would produce, it should say on the stats.. but if i remember correctly 134db is the level at which your ear drums split :twisted: and you go deaf ... so i wouldn't advise going much louder than that !!! hehehe ::

    a m8 of mine was pushing 144db in his calibra from two 12" cerwin vega subs..

    Mmm curious..... and he can still hear? i don't think so.... don't believe the ratings... the only true way to check is with a decent db monitor.. (i.e. not one of those cheap ones from the gadget shop) ....

    With all this said..... surely even if i've got the level wrong at which your ear drums split 144db can not be pleasant to listen to (that's louder than a boeing 747's engine noise) ....

    Maybe i'm getting too old.... but surely there's a limit to how loud you need your stereo....
