    Default My Projects thread

Hi all, Well I've been wanting to have one of these threads for a long time as I'm always on with something car related just never really got round to it so here goes! Before last years shows I made a big effort with the nova to make it as clean and as well spec'd as I could, When It came to billing last year I thought the car was starting to look really well...........

But as we always do I still wanted to get it even cleaner and up the spec again were and when possible. A very well made new exhaust has been purchased and is awaiting fitting.........

Also I have boxed up certain parts to send for either flocking, carbon, chroming I've just got to finish off the preparation on a few parts then I can send them all off.

With the nova now being off the road for winter I turned my attention to maybe getting a newer/ more fun car for a runaround as last year when the nova was off the road I spent my time running around in a mk3 astra 1.4 and as cheap as it was it was boring as hell!!! Below as some of you may have seen in general chat recently is what I purchased.......

Its fairly well spec'd and running around 280bhp on eds phase 2, It's had a full engine rebuild around 5K ago, honed, crank ground oversized bearings, arp rod bolts, all new gaskets and seals, steel head gasket, recon head with all new valves. The block has also been cleaned and painted. The car also has large front mount intercooler, bailey dump valve, vxr injectors and courtney heat shield, xe inlet cam, magnicore ht leads, iridion plugs, etc. But as well as it goes the bodywork as genuine as it is did need some work.

So this week I decided to get cracking with it. I thought to begin with I'd do all the easier parts so the back end was stripped of rear bumper, lights, spoiler and mirror caps were also removed.......

And I stayed late monday night to get the following parts all prepared and painted....

After work Tuesday these were put back on the car and the front bumper was then removed and prepared for paint......

I spent quite a while on this trimming the centre out properly as It had only been roughly cut before for the front mount intercooler etc below is how it finished up.....

It seemed all vauxhalls are the same as these arch lips were very similar to novas as a few tiny spots had started so I just took the whole lip back to the metal. While on with the sides I thought I'd take the opportunity to colour code the door handles........

But heres the outcome after another 10.30pm finish.......
