Mick, with the amount of wind resistance you'd have at that speed, if you ever manahed to reach 145MPH in a nova, you'd sh*t one and never go there again

people have just been having a go at me for saying novas do not go over 150mph on standard boxes but stuart gave me a link that calculates it.it seems like hes gone to a lot of trouble with it to figure it all out.i dont think he would have done it inaccurate.

    Relative speed, Perfect scenario, yes!!

Real world, wind resistance, road surface, tyres, driver skill (LACK OF) etc etc
Not as easy as you think
    And WHY

if you read the disclaimer on my page you will see that it states the setup is capable of doing those speeds IF there is enough power to overcome wind resistance/losses etc

No your speeds werent right, your speedo/rev counter are nowhere near accurate!

GPS maybe but no way you were doing that speed vs revs!

    Not in a breeze block

perfect conditions being no wind resistance, so you'd either need no air or the wind blowing 150MPH in the direction your going, and also zero friction on the tyres slowing you down, which would mean you wouldn't be able to grip?

So this thread has basiacally confirmed that your car will go 155 mph if theres no oxygen or road resistance.

This wins the award for most retarded thread ever!

yes you have an rpm vs engine speed. BUT you still need the power to overcome the losses to actually achieve that speed... infact ill mess about with my power for speed calculator..

    added

to do 150mph in a nova you would need approx 160bhp at the wheels.
