    Default 1.2 nova dont go

    i have a 1.2 nova (CARB) and im not sure if its just the cold weather but it goes alright until i come do a junction and need 2 put it into 1st, and when i go 2 pull away and let the clutch up it wont let me rev and it trys 2 die i have 2 dip my clutch agen and rev like hell to get it away, any ideas, like i say it might be cold weather as it dosnt normaly do this, manual choke. cheers

    can you describe it abit more?? it might not be running on all cylinders?? also it could be a blocked jet. have you let it sit idle with the choke adjusted right so it revs at about 1000 RPM?? theres an idle jet and another one

    try a heavy duty battery if its a standard car, its bloody cold outside,

    if not then try a mini service, get new plugs and leads, carb could be dirty

    then don't scrap it just yet wait till its warm its probably electrical, worst case ecu
    . i would recommend cleaning the carb anyway if it hasnt being done recently its allways worth it.

    why not dont carb engines have them?

    does it have a K&N filter?

    do you have the frying pan filter, does it have the pipe from the exhaust manifold?

    My 1.2 carb was the same. I sprayed lots of carb cleaner into the carb while it was running, sealed the ignition and adjusted the throttle linkage/cable so that it idles a bit higher, runs fine now.

    no carb engines dont hav ecus! although a jap 1990 carb starlet have an ecu.... trivial information!

    oh am on on about a 1.2i then? same year about 1992 same plate j reg manual choke was out same year, did one have a ecu and one not?

    If its got one of these on the rear drivers side of the engine at the top then its got a mechanical fuel pump therefore a carb:
