I actually consider fast and furious 1 and 2 to be two seperate films as there are no real ties between the two other than Paul Walker.
Haven't seen 3.... apparently Vin comes back in the 4th one.

I really wouldn't bother with 3, its shockingly bad. Vin has a small cameo in it too, but seems extremely forced and awkward, not a touch on the presence he has in the first movie.
