I changed mine while the dash was out (put GSi one in instead)

Id not have attempted changing them otherwise.

Well worth it though as the standard speakers are sheeeeeite!!

I installed a pair of SONY XPLOD 10CM Speakers behind the dash today, yes I did take all the skin off my knuckles to get them in, but job was done in less than 30mins. Also you don't need remove the glovebox as per Haynes. Good sound, nice speakers for teh size of em. Oh and ?13 delivered from ebay.

i just went out and bought some 10cm ones then enthusiasticly took the bits off and was dissapointed that i cant appear to get them in that well

have you only got one screw holding them in and are they ok like that. The cardboard bit of the dash inside seems to be touching the rubber part of the cone surlely it will sound poop

    Hi,

Yes I did only use one screw. The plastic ducts I pushed back out of the way to get them in. The card does not foul the speakers and when you put the vent back on it pushes up against the underside of the speaker to sort of sandwich it in place. I was a bit worried about the offside one and put some bubblewrap at the back of it to stop the magnet sticking to the chassis, but on fitting the vent back in I realised it wern't needed as the duct pressed up on the underside of the speaker. It was tight I've still got the scabs on my knuckles to prove it! If you wish to cut the card out to take the speaker properly (i.e. cut that flat spot out) then its a dash out job.

Yes they're on the car over the speakers. I just removed them to take pics.
