    Default Best engine ever?

Seeing as we had a thread hijack in mechanical, I thought I'd move the discussion over here, so what does everyone think is the best engine ever?

best design for ease of power i would say twin rotary engines. However, as for reliability there not that good. Esp after they've done about 100k they just coke up and die!

Or a Martin Bowyer built GM 1600 16v, he's getting like 250bhp out of them and putting them into rally cars, at a cost of about ?10k

I was going to say Cosworth YB for the sheer amount of things you can do with it; but after seeing a 1991 Bugatti EB110 at Goodwood last year, I've changed my mind! The 3.5 litre, V12, 5 valves per cylinder, quad turbo engine this has is a work of art. It also has gear driven cams and produces 1bhp per 6.36cc. Its not the most powerful engine ever but for its prettiness, quality of engineering and exclusiveness it must rate surely?
