Rubber Marigolds .... I'll try it though! Don't know what my Mum will say to that!

Yes, and I've got those "daft metal things on the leads next to the plugs". They're heat-shields aren't they?
Will the leads by ok with out 'em?

the carb might be knackered but it not the wrong type. some sr were made with the single choke(which is the same as the 1.2)and some were made with the twin choke(same as the 1.4sr)this ones alot better and gives u about 10bhp more, so its worth gettin this anyway.most probaly ur leads getting wet like they say.if u have got a scoop above ur dizzy, cover up the dizzy like they say with a glove,it does work!!et some new leads, urs might just be knackered.also put some damp sealer on

Yes they are supposed to be heat shields, but they cause more problems than they are worth. The leads will be OK without them.

    Cheers again.
I'm going to e getting a new carb soon anyway - Weber - so that'll help. The carb I've got now is the wrong one - off of a 1.2, which has a 23mm venturi, but the one designed for the 1.3 has a 25mm venturi - according to the Haynes Bible anyway!
