    right so assuming i sort this u will running no airfilter affect performance i just put thin mesh over it to stop bits o crap coming in.this ok?and any ideas what bhp increasil get from running this with a full system sportex exhaust.cheers

    i reckon about ten bhp, but you want to get a proper filter, my old standard filter box was made to fit by the previous owner, but get a k&N.

    If you just mesh over the filter it might cause your carb to freeze up temporarily in the cold weather. Try and send some warm air from your enginer in the direction of your carb to solve this problem.
    As for bhp increase, take it to be tuned and ask for a readout. I was told I'm getting 90 bhp from my 1.4SR with full exhaust and K&N Bolt on filter. I don't know how accurate that is though.

    slimjim-is that with the carb done 2, cos if it isn't, I reckon yout be closer to 80bhp.

    5-10bhp my ass!!! Removing the air filter wont give you any more power. If you compare NEW orginal filter and K&N you see max 1-2% bhp gain. Wake up!
