Not forgetting performance, what bhp??
I was wondering about that also, but people have said that the difference in power between the 1.6 and 2.0 is big enough to justify the extra cost of having a 2.0(also when I phoned an insurance company the quotes were the same for the 1.6 16v and the 2.0 16v!!!!)
The main reaso for selecting the 1.6 16v over the 2l is the difference in weight and therefore handling. The 1.6 16v engine shouln't be anymore expensive to insure than a novagte/gsi as the performance from both engines is about the same (100BHP, 0-60 times about 9 Secs). The only point in getting the corsa engine is if you have the money to tune the engine up. 200 BHP is possible but your talking big money then.
Depends what year of engine you get. Early ones are 109bhp, later ecotec ones are 106. They look a little different, the non-ecotec ones have a plastic manifold whereas the later ones are cast.
I'd say the difference is enough to go for a 2 litre, many Corsa GSi owners do that exact same swap.
That was in response to NOVATAKERs bhp question...
There you go, from a 1.6 16v owners mouth - get a 2.0 16v!
Best thing i ever did, get one and look like this -> :D
What would a turbo'd 1.6 16v be like. I understand regal can do the whole lot for about ?3500.
a 1.6 will be alot lighter and if u tune u can reach the bhp of a 2.0 and still have a weight advantage over a 2.0, also a turbo conversion would be make it seriously quick!
Just one thing, what company gave the same quote for a 1.6 16v as a 2.0 16v? I will get the 2.0 in my nova but i would think the insurance would be a right bastid!!
