Just about to get some MDF from B&Q from a sub box - I'm planning to use some kinda sealant inside around all the edges to keep it airtight. Any particular stuff I should be using, or will anything do?

go for some tiger sealent mate.
we use it on the whole rig. it's stood up to 2 years of use on the bins so far and their looaded with a pair of fane 18" pusing 1.2k RMS.
should be fine for a sub box.

silicon is the best stuff imo i always use it anyway
I've had bad experiences with silicone on subs. the ones on our smaller rig just ate them over about 6 months. they were pushing 800w rms.
i still say tiger. it's still holding out somehow.
