    Default bottom end conversion

    seen a vectra 1.8 sri 120 bottom end quite cheap. the head was fucked so i was wandering whether id be able to fit a 2.0l red top head on or what would fit?

    well as far as im aware XE heads fit onto X20XEV blocks (TFS is using a XEV block for his LET as its apparently stronger for instance)

    so assuming the 20xev and 18xe blocks are similar then the head will fit

    however by the time u buy the head and manifolds etc to attach it all and gaskets etc etc u'd have been easier just buying a complete XE, and the XE rods are stronger than 18xe ones so you'll have a weaker engine in the end and be producing less power as your down on 200cc

    plus the XE and ecotecs have different piston dish cutouts so u'd end up needing to fit XE pistons or have the 1800 ones cutout more

    oh right, too much hassle i think ill stick to trying to find a gsi/ red top engine or ecotec/ corsa gsi engine etc.
