I am looking at putting some 6x9's on the door but ideally I don't wont to cut the door card. I was thinking maybe an MDF frame to mount them on. Has anyone got any ideas?

I did this on my old car, I made a base out of MDF, then used some strips of card to get the correct height for the speakers so that they didn't bash the door card. then I used some more MDF to make the mountings(basically a ring around the 6*9) and used fibreglass to fill in the gaps. These took flippin ages to make, but the sound from them was actually quite good, although because the 6*9's were wuite big they stuck out a long way off the door, so they got a bit annoying. Also I never covered them, so they were just bare MDF and fibreglass, because I couldn't be bothered finishing them and I was selling the car!!!! Stick to 6" components in the front , a whole lot easier!!!!
