I would go for Cerwin Vega, I heard just 2 12" subs in the back of a calibra a few weeks ago and they were unbelievably loud and solid sounding!!!( he did have decent amps aswell though)

Now you all reminded me of the Cerwin Vega Stroker 18" :D In max power a few years ago they got it to 5184w RMS from a fuckoff rock concert amp till it smoked.
That's mental!! :D

my mate has a daewoo with four vega 15's! now that's loud! he also has about 600 tweeters!! the whole car is a box!
