    Default Clutch

O! The reason i went to the garage was to have the clutch looked at, he said it would need replacing in the next few weeks. Is this hard to do and what do i need??

It's not a fun job that's for sure. Personally i'd buy the clutch myself and let the garage fit it. Depending on how much they want its not really worth the hassle/effort imo.

early vauxhall clutches are a piece of piss. its only when you start getting to the later 2.0 ecotec engine gearboxes and alike that vauxhall had the bright idea to stop making boxes with the inspection plate on them.

you can whip the clutch out from under the car with the box still attached. have a look in haynes. its reasonably simple to follow

the reason they removed the inspection plate was that u cant fit the clutch out of a box with a pot style flywheel anyway and the later engines all had pot flywheels so there was no need for the access panel

as said the clutchs on novas are really easy to do , with either the box on or off ::

but if you want a garage to do it expect to be charged about ?60 just for fitting

probably related to the fact that the heavier flywheel makes the engine more docile and less harsh and your granny doesnt want a harsh snatchy engine in her astra does she
