Headlight wiring help req'd urgently

Can someone please tell me where the thin brown wire goes that comes out the back of the headlight switch. There is also a thick brown one next to it which loops back on itself.

So far i have traced it to behind the fans in the center of the dash board.

The other night i switched my headlights off but they stayed on. For some reason if i positioned the switch in the center to have my sidelights on this turned the lights off. The next morning i moved the switch from the sidelight position to off and a big puff of smoke and a burning smell came from behind the dash.

It is the thin brown wire that i am trying to trace which is burnt out completely to where i can see at the minute.

Any help would be much appreciated as i really need this sorted for today.

if i remember correctly it goes to a joiner where it then joins onto a lager diameter cable just behind the center of the dash as u said

Thanks mate, sorted now, it joined up to a load of other brown wires. Thankfully it didnt burn down this far, just gotta sort out the wires that melted to each other now. The fun :D could think of better ways to spend an entire sunday.
