    Default Building a LET...

Right have been offered a complete bottom end and injection system for a C20 LET.

All it needs is a Head and a Turbo

Only looking for a standard setup so what sort of money am i looking at for a standard turbo, also i am right in thinking that a XE head will fit/work ok?

i spose the price depends on the condition of the parts you want to buy.

300 for turbo and manifold act etc reconed with paperwork and low miles.

can u not get away with an xe head mabey just do a little work to it while its off. and put a let cam in and and n/a cam not sure on the order

let exhaust cam will be needed but the xe inlet can be used but you have to retard the timing on it by a tooth. good for an extra 10 bhp this wat too

They told me it was some kind of hoax about retard the inlet cam by 1 touth ?

I never looked at it my self yet.
But I would say use adjustable cam wheels for fine tune the engine.

How know's more about this ?

    Unproven standard turbo's = ?100-?150
XE head = ?70-?150 depending on condition, and whether its gm or coscast.
    Let exhaust cam = ?10?
You can use an XE inlet cam retarded a tooth (16degs ish), a fair few people have done this and reckon it pulls harder at the top of the rev range. Optimal is meant to retarded about 7 degrees, so on mine I just elongated the dowel hole in the pully to give me a half tooth measurement, also done this on 2 other LETs with XE inlet cams without problem.

Verniers would be best, and I believe if set up correctly the XE exhaust cam can be used. However verniers are only worth the cash if your going to experiment with the timing to get the best power. If your just going to read on mig that 7 degs retard or so is best then you may as well elongate the std pully.

www.maxboost.co.uk (JohnA's site) has a fair bit on this subject.
