    Default Speaker wireing ?

When you dont have an amp you connect the speakers into the back of the head unit, but when you buy yourself an amp do you chop the wires that went to the headunit and join some wire together and take it to the amp ?

Im asking becouse i wont have the money for a wireing kit till next week and want to get some info before i install it.
God dont you hate being a newbie ? after you know what to do ? it seems easy, but for the newbie its like a nightmare and being locked in your car with S Club Seven being pumped out ya system init.
    Cheers Daz

When you buy an amp for speakers you can either use the speaker outputs (from the headunit) or a pair or RCA cables to get the sound from the headunit into the amp - RCA's are better for quailty.
But bear in mind that the majority of modern stereos have built in amps which although stating their power as 'only' 4x40w is actually very powerful and enough for most people - don't be put off by amp offering '2x500w' as that's peak power and not RMS - and RMS is the one that matters.
