i would race him but i have only got a fiat seicento sporting now - with a K&N!!!
and its not exactly a valver is it

any one up for a challenge in a valver with a standard metro turbo engine mini at 1st and in 6 months time he is having a 150bhp metro turbo lump in with 100bhp shot of nitrous on controller
should be 250bhp @ wheels - anyone up for a play now and then please post - i think york is the best bet as its closer for us

It all depends on gearing, and who built what,

but the mini if properly developed would slaughter it im afraid!

the group A ones where 220BHP from 1293cc! How long do you want the idle gear bearing to last

Well with standard engines in the same car. The valver would destroy the turbo (assuming you mean a 2.0). The standard metro turbo engine is only 90bhp. The engine/drivetrain were designed for efficiency instead of power. The gearbox would break if you yanked up the boost. You didn't say which valver though? 1.4, 1.6, 2.0, etc... The Corsa 1.0 is a valver too!

you are correct mech, but having witnessed what a proper turbo can do (as steves above), building them right means more than just winding up boost.

but std for std.. the 2.0L would whop it.

someone once told me that a turbo engine needs to make 25% more power than the equivalent N/A engine to win a straight race, and this has been proven in my own rallycross car.

My uncle had a proper metro turbo in his mini, lots of head and bottom end work, bored out block, etc, strange as it may seem but he managed to leave a celica GT4 sitting for dead.

Yeah. When we're talking mods, nothing can beat turbos for power.

well the standard engine is going in today hopefully and he will then start work on the tweeked one - heres the spec: -

ported & polished with enlarged combustion chambers
    avonbar phase 2 cam
    20psi boost
    T3 turbo
    steel headgasket
    low comp pistons
    jack knight straight cut gears
    4 pin diff
    1.5:1 roller rockers
    larger inlet valves
    arp rod bolts
    lightened and balenced bottom end
    avenbar flywheel
100bhp shot nitrous using minimax contoller
    mini sport quick shift
    1310cc over bore
all set up on rolling road with carb mods to suit 20psi

and that should give a good 170bhp without nitrous approx 150@wheels
with gas 220@wheels with 300lb ft torque
and it weighs approx 650kg curb weight

    not bad ey.

Never will it make that on the rollers!

Ive seen steves Group A ones, and you are missing several big tricks in the build there. EG- wire ringing the block, under crown piston cooling, and the idle gear MUST be a timkin otherwise it wont last 2 minutes.

the group A engine ran 220 at flywheel on much lower boost! 20psi wont last, the T3 needs stacks of work to sustain that.

when he has had it rolling roaded i will post the charts up to prove his power but i must admit it is a bit optimistic, and your right it wont last 5 mins.

i will also post timing slips up
