    Default Sub Box Size

Ive got a pioneer 12" sub in boot (obviously). I made the box myself, with a bit of mathematics, to the right cm3 size.

But whenever i see another sub in a car, their boxes are like 1/3 of the size. Which brings me to ask......

How much difference does the size of the box make to the sound of the sub, e.g if i made my box smaller by 50% is the sound going to deteriate noticably?

Any help will be mucho appreciated

If your box is to big then it will sound shite, if it is too small then there will not be asmuch sub bass (Low Bass)

Is your box ported or sealed?

Its sealed, would it be worth making the box smaller and porting it??

Or is that just a stupid thing to do

It depends on what sort of music you listen to, a ported box will give you more low bass than tight punchy bass

A sealed box will give you the oposite.

Thats the thing, i listen to anything, trance to RnB

I think i'll port it, will make a change and then if it doesnt impress me ill see how it sounds with a smaller box.
