The largest choke that will work properly in a 40DCOE is a 34 choke. The smallest choke that will work properly in a 45DCOE is a 34 choke. While larger chokes are available for 40DCOEs and smaller ones are available for 45DCOEs they will not work as well and this is really the cross over point between the carbs IMO and from what i have researched whilst building my engine.

    45s

the characteristics of the DCOE40 wouldnt suit most applications on a 2litre.

now ive told you all this, cos it is the right info and the way to go, BUT just to confuse you - or if your into carbs i dont know, think of this.......

us heavily modded 1.6 8v are running twin 40s right.... but we use a choke size of between 30 and 34mm so that means in simple terms, were effectively using twin 32s or whatever!

now i dont know what choke sizes are common for 2litre applications BUT what im sayin is dont be suprised to fit twin 45s, and then fit chokes lower in size for example 38 or something ridiculous. yes you could have used the dcoe40, but it wouldnt suit the engine right and the 45s also give you more scope for the future.

ive got 45s for mine and ive been told that these are the way to go as they will work fime on a standard engine but wil also be good for large power increaces.

oh and porky that is good going for just a set of carbs. i wasnt aiming that high with head work and a silly cam too
