Default Modding chassis leg for alternator clearance

I've decided to go down the heating and reshaping route to modding my chassis leg. Just wondering what to use, do I need an acetylene torch or will a butane/propane hand held can be sufficient?

I don't think the little hand held will be man enough, but give it a go I guess?

A slit may help it push in easier.

Alternatively get a little 40a Denso alternator and see just how much (or little) you need to modify the chassis leg.
