Do you guys help out with stock Novas or just souped up ones?
I have a '91 J reg Nova Life (all of 1.0l) that I have had from new (well, inherited from my mum and I was there when we bought it...) It has been laid up for some time and I have been gradually doing a resto on her. She came off the road due to a worn engine so I have put another one in but kept the original carb (Weber 32TL). I have got her to the point of starting and running but here is the problem. She wont idle very well. Also, I am pretty sure she is running extremely rich. (drinks petrol really quickly, bright yellow flame on the colourtune). I am running her off a bottle in the engine bay to the pump. When she empties the bottle, the revs pick up and she sounds sweet for about five seconds before dying. My best guess is the lack of fuel / vapours brings the mixture down to the correct level... I have pulled the carb apart and fully cleaned it (not got a refurb kit as all seals diaphragms and gaskets look fine) and have tried resetting the float to new levels, up, down, doesn't seem to matter. What am I missing??? PLEASE HELP!
This car means a lot to me and I am running out of ideas!
