    Default Steering wheel off centre

I've had my nova tracked up after fitting coilovers all came in right it was toeing out a lot. Now they didn't touch the camber as said it was fine. Now wheel is on the piss when I am driving straight which is annoying. I went back and they said maybe a bottom arm bush or Trac rod is knackered. Question is are they right or fobbing me off?

Did they clamp the steering wheel in place before they started? Many many years ago when I worked in bodywork repair shops they used a clamp that wedged between the seat bottom and the steering wheel. then as they made adjustments you knew the steering wheel was set in the straight ahead position. If they haven't done this it could explain your issue.

Yes they used the clamp as I was there to witness this. The car drives fine just this issue with the wheel being off centre.

Could you remove the wheel and set it back on straight? If it drives straight and everything else is fine this is what I would personally do. I'd imagine time will tell with tire wear etc if they've fooked up. Short of going else where to get it checked...

As far as a bush or a track rod end being knackered surely they can/should check this to prove if it is or not. You've paid your money and it's not right and if they're sure it's not work they've done they must be able to show this. This is the problem sometimes with garages, it's never their fault I'm afraid..

Yeh could do. What i will do for the sake of a few quid will change the track rods and bottom ball joints and see from there! Will go back and get it checked after this has been done. Cheers for the help.

They've blatantly not managed to keep the wheel straight and are trying to fob you off!
If you change the TREs it'll need tracking again, so I wouldn't bother!

I would just change the steering wheel position as it is most likely it hasn't been held quite straight.

I once sat in my car in a tyre place till they tracked both sides as opposed to the one because my wheel was so far off that I couldn’t drive & see my speedo on a straight road. After a stand off of about 20 minutes, they finally did it properly.
