Default 1988 Nova 1.3SR Clutch Replacement

Hi All, this is my first post although ive been a member for a while.

I have a 1.3SR which ive had from New. The gearbox is standard and Its now on 215,000 miles - i thought it may benefit from a clutch change.
Problem is the Haynes book tells me there should be a big hex nut on the side of the box to withdraw the input shaft. Nope, no such cover.

I am assuming i need to remove the whole side cover to gain access? Ive read somewhere in the forum suggesting there are some input shafts that are not withdrawable....?

Just my luck to have something that isnt in the book.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Ta!

It's been a long while..... 20 years since I have done this but I remember taking the whole end cover off. Then the input shaft has a circlip??? It then withdraws pretty easy. Just watch the gear oil doesn't go everywhere when you take the end cover off. The large hex nut your on about might have only been on the early cars??

Large hex nut is 4 speed only, 5 spees requires the cover on the end removing, i habe the full proper tool set here for it if you're local to me

Thanks Guys, and for the offer of loan of the tool set, millworm. Unfortunately i'm in Chester which is a way from you.....
Great to hear ur advice Jonesfach, i was a little nervous of taking off the end cover as i didnt know if the cover may be supporting any bearings or shafts......
Ive bought some oil as i may as well change that while im at it, plus a couple of gaskets.

The original clutch isnt doing bad after 215,000 miles but its getting a little heavy.
