I've never had one that regulates pressure, thats the job of the fuel reg (assuming you're running carbs). Is it even an issue as when its running it'll be fine?

As I remember it they used to make a clicking noise, which when the pressure in the line reduced it clicked more often, whereas when the fuel line pressure was high it clicked less so. The electrical feed like yours was off a dash switch that was manually turned on when the car was started. I ran a fuel reg near the carbs also under the bonnet.
