    Default Engine bogging out

    Hi all,

    Basically, I've got a c14se, with a 1.2 carb head.

I'm struggling to get it running properly. It doesn't idle well, and when up shifting it bog out for a second before picking up the revs, and as I accelerate there will be random points in which it'll lose power before picking up again.
also, as come to a stop at a junction or whatever it just cut out completely.

To me it seems like a struggle with fueling, could it be the carb not doin it's job properly? If so, how to I rectify it?

    Any help would much appreciated!

    Thanks.

Check the the jets in the carb aren't clogged, fuel filter blocked, is it sucking in air ??

I've taken the carb off at the moment, goin to my mate for a good clean.
Fuel filter is brand new so shouldn't be blocked.

Once it's back I'll see how it goes.

If you've put a carb for a 1.2 on a 1.4 block it will probably be underfueling, have you had a look at the plugs to see what colour they are? Sounds like you need the carb setting up with bigger jets to me.

The problem is, I didn't fit it, so I have no idea what's going on with this engine, I'm just finding things out as I go along.
I've recently given it. Thorough service, but the previous plugs didn't look too bad, a little burnt out, but they were old..

Restarting this thread.. Still having trouble..

The carb has recently been removed thoroughly cleaned and refitted.. It idles a little better now, but still not great. Its no longer bogging out when up shifting but it still cuts out when I slow right down (junction, speed bump, etc)

Any ideas? Winding me up now..

The biggest question if you have checked the simple stuff is.....is the carb correctly jetted for the 1.4. Your idle jets may need increasing as a 1.2 will take less fuel for it to tick over nice....you will need bigger on a 1.4 even if you have a nice new carb.

How would I find out whether it is set up correctly? Or, how do I go about setting it up correctly?
