Default C14SE possible misfire and running Rich

    Hello from Australia!

I have an issue with my Holden/Opel Combo 1997 with a C14SE engine.

At low idles it feels like the revs are bouncing and as if there is a misfire and it does smell like it is running rich. I have the Check Engine Light on but my scanner doesn't seem to be compatible with the car.

I have inspected the spark plugs and they were pretty dirty and have seen better days so I installed new spark plugs hoping that it will be the problem. The car does sound and feel better but there is definitely still a misfire and still running rich.

The Check Engine Light does turn off after a while of driving but comes back on if I am at a stop or turn off the car and back on again

Does anyone know what the issue would be?

Also does anyone know a scanner that would be compatible?

I will have a look at the cold start sensor but I doubt that might be it.
As for the CTS I know its faulty and so I have set up my fans to kick on manually with a switch inside the car.

But would the CTS cause an issue like this?

Yes. Fueling calculation is modified by CTS.

Okay thanks for the feedback guys but I found the issue. I replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor and still no difference.

While I was looking around the engine bay I notice that the hose on the throttle body was missing! I connected the hose and placed a clamp.

Car is now running PERFECTLY now! Simple fix to a problem that had me question everything about the car haha
