    Default Cable Gear Change Conversion

Who has done this on their Nova, and what do they think of it?

I'm contemplating changing my Nova to it as I'm unhappy with the quality of the change on the hillclimb car. And I can't afford a sequential 'box

    Thanks

The CAE kit looks nice, but it's a lot of money. The price of that plus what I could sell my current gearbox for wouldn't be that far away from the cost of a Quaife 32G sequential (secondhand).

Someone must have done the Vecta cable conversion?

    I have..

Works fantastically well on a standard or SCCR box but isnt quite right on a dog box. Its been tweaked over time to evolve into its current format.

Ive used an M32 / M20 Astra Mk5 gear shift lever (6 speed but reverse in the right place) as its slightly shorter throw. Modified the cable attachment points to use rose joints on the cable ends.
Standard Vectra C 1.8 F17 cable shift turret - modified the cable attachment points to use rose joints on the cable ends.
Custom length cables with m6 threaded ends and rosejoints (mine were done by Cable-Tec)
Modified gearbox bracket on an F16 / F18 casing
Custom gear shift bracket to raise it all right up and get the cable ends correctly done.

Various photos in my build thread

    Paul..

Thanks Paul, that's the sort of information I was after. My 'box is SCCR, so that sounds good.

I'll have a look at your build thread as soon as I can.

Got to say last time out with a new Quaife shifter the change was spot on ,just too quick for the synchros. Saying this it has taken a bit of time and some tweaking to get to this

Are you sure something isn't moving on weight transfer that is making it difficult, I found that the helicopter joint was touching the turret very slightly occasionally which was causing a problem which was amplified by very slight movement of the box,I have solid/ updated mounts too!
