C20let gaskets

I'm rebuilding my c20let now and don't want any oil leaks as does anyone, what ways have people done their sump gaskets as in have people used two Cork gaskets with rtv sealant and the baffle plate in between or no rtv sealant or the rubber split type where the baffle plate can be inserted.

Used an 8v 2.0 sump gasket with the built in baffle and genuine ford sealant, the stuff is pukka, never leaks

With it all off clean everything as grease free as possible. The only sealant I've used not to leak with an 8V sump & baffle plate along with rubber seal is perma grey; be sure to use a good amount all around the gasket & keep going round the sump bolts to ensure all are nipped up just nice but even. Next most important thing is to leave it for at least a day to cure.

I've tried everything. Mine sump wont stop. Even had it faced.

I thought that until I did it last (prolly 6th or 7th time ever doing it). Just use generous amounts of perma grey & leave it for like a week! (then add oil & run etc!)

I had my sump chromed then faced. Using 8v bonded gasket and baffle. Done on a stand upside down. Fully cleaned. Bead of RTV on both sides. Bolts toqured up. Left for 2weeks to dry and bond.

Still leaks. ffs.

did you clean out your holes?

I did, cotton bud and then tapped clean. Correct length bolts too.

I did wonder if the Zlet pump i use made to much pressure... But it would pop the dipstick first, which isn't doesn't.

the oil pump does not pressurise the crank case

Good point. Bugger knows, im sure someone will say a wrapped block, but i dont really believe in that my self.

If my engines out soon, i might bead a line of sealant in the join see if it helps.
