Do you mean converting to coilovers and turretting the rear?

Not many successful rally novas with that mod done - most use a decent gravel Pigtail rear spring (Protec supply them) and good dampers.

Having said that, Im converting my Astra to Proflex Coilovers this winter. I will be using these round Escort Group 4 turrets.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Group-4-Es...-/282010957887

I was thinking of turretting the the back of it and pitting in strut in the back im looking to be able to rise the back up without changing the springs I also think the back of the car is abit soft so I would like to harden it up abit at the same time do you have any pictures of any done or a link for on that's been done. If I did go struts what range of rear struts do you get for the back that would be good for rallying ?

Take a look at http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/proje...car-build.html to see what I did on the last one I turretted. Astra Mk2, so similar to a Nova but not the same.

Whats your budget? Its cheaper to go for something already proven.

Non coilover Bilstein Rally spec with pigtail spring is the cheapest I would go - £350ish for rear dampers and springs
Avo adjustable coilovers next step up - single way adjustable monotube - £750ish for rear turretting, coilovers and springs
Avo 3 way remote damper next step - £1500ish for rear turreting, coilovers and springs
Proflex next step - £2500 for rear turreting, coilovers and springs

I personally wouldnt look at any of the cheap "trackday" coilovers or brands such as spax, koni etc as you will have to replace them as they bend. Plus dont be tempted with the cheaper Bilsteins as the same, plus the damping rates will be wrong.

Ive learnt over time thats its better to spend the money once on something that will last.

What rear springs / rates are you running right now?

Dont get caught up with damper "stiffness" too much. Get a rear ARB fitted if you dont have one, up the spring rating if you feel you need to have a harder back end and fit properly rated rear dampers to suit.

Theres a variety of Bilsteins out there - B4s (black), B6s (yellow) for road usage and then the yellow rally valved Bilsteins which have different damping rates to the road ones and are stronger. Speak to Protec would be my advice..
