    Default Cod certificate

I scrapped my car 2 weeks ago after reading online I should be issued with a certificate of destruction but not received it yet! I've received a notification from dvla that Iam no longer the owner of the vehicle that's all. Is this right?

A certificate of destruction can only be issued by an authorised treatment facility. Did you scrap it with a company or did you just send off the logbook saying scrapped?

The scrapped part was removed from logbooks so that only licensed breakers could scrap a car. Was he a licensed breaker or just a dodgy scrap man? If they are a licensed breaker then they will have access to the DVLA certificate of destruction system and they should be able to issue you with one.

It's a licenced scrap merchant I've used few times. I will be given him a ring tomorrow after speaking to dvla 1st.

You would be better phoning the scrap dealer rather than DVLA as it will be the scrap dealer that issues the COD. It may be that he has done it and just not sent you a copy. I own a licensed breakers so issue COD's and while we keep them on file we don't always send a copy to the customer.
