Default need advice on a very rusty nova

i picked up a nova van a couple of weeks back, quite a bit of rust, its done 126k, 1.5 diesel engine runs sound. but i got it for next to nothing so i thought i'd take a punt. done about 600 miles in it over the last 3 weeks and other than the horn falling off and running out of fuel due to a dodgy fuel gauge it's been great.
    however..
dropped it round to the garage i use at work this morning for a service,
about half an hour later they bought it back round to me after they realised how bad the rust is on the front cut a long story short, he said there's no point servicing it as the chassis is so far gone. 'dangerous' is one of the words he used.

now i know nobody likes a 'whats it worth' thread, but whats the best thing to do with it?
it's got solid doors and wings as they came of an sri, its got a gsi steering wheel. and its a van, which is pretty fooking rare...

Get some photos of the rot if you can. It may be salvageable enough for someone to take it on as a project, not many diesel nova vans around now

To be honest worse you'll have to do is pull the engine to get in the bay to work on it. Unless the whole car resembles a siv

    Cut said rust out.
    Weld in new clean metal.

I'm not doubting the rust being bad but one persons definition of dangerous bad can vary wildly from the next.best thing to do is have a look and post pics up.By the sounds of what you're saying you've no intention of repairing it.Especially if you're paying a garage to service a nova.

if i had the time i would service it myself and i'd much rather save it than sell it on or scrap it but i've just bought a house which needs a lot of work and having a 8-5 job i hardly get time to scratch my arse. i'll get some pictures up in a bit

That looks like the complete bottom of the front cross member has gone so very dangerous. The complete section can be bought and replaced fairly easily but if it has gone in to the chassis legs, you would need to be very keen to save it.

It is easier to change the oil yourself.
