    Default Getting the urge

To tinker with my MK4 Astra estate, been looking at lowering kits and you can get Bilstein B4 shocks for £134, Eibach springs are about £140 then I'm thinking wheels, tint windows, maybe bigger brakes. Its a silver 1.6 8v with 104K miles on it, tell me I shouldn't

If you look closely you'll see it behind my friends car, this is how much I like my Astra

Will a 1.6 8v aastra really go fast enough to need bigger brakes?

You shouldn't, never seen a nice one, don't think it's possible.

Funk it. Do it. lower it, big ass brakes, gsi/turbo bodykit it. Some nice banded steels.

No probably not, its actually pretty f*cking slow for a 1.6 I've touched 100mph which wasn't a massive battle but I thought it'd be quicker, anyhoo the discs are going to need changing so I thought I might as well get bigger ones

I've seen some decent ones tbh but the wheels can make a massive difference on these MK4 estates for some reason.

Looked at GSi bodykits, the price of just the front bumpers but Bilstein B4 suspension for £134?! surely its worth buying?

56mph on the poor 6k soft cut limiter in second gear, you don't need big brakes
they have 256mm discs as standard anyway

They're 256? Solid or vented, I've honestly not even looked might just be needing new discs and pads then as the braking isn't what I remember from 256mm although they were on a Nova.

Asked a few questions on AOC and got a reply to one of my questions so I'll ask in here now. This is just copy and paste

    • Its a 1.6 8v W reg estate in silver, at 70 mph the revs are about 3,500 rpm I'm going to assume this is either an F13 gearbox or an F15cr? It annoys me slightly as although it picks up speed alright its annoying hearing it rev like that on the motorway especially when I'm overtaking at say 80mph, the clutch bite is quite high too so I'm debating changing the gearbox while I'm at it to something that would bring the revs down.

I'm fighting the urge to tinker with it, I've seen pics of silver ones with tints, GSi bumpers, lowered and some alloys (I'd probably also do a brake upgrade as the brakes aren't fantastic on this) how much do GSi bumpers sell for and what would be a good choice of lowering suspension (budget isn't large so no expensive kits). Please post pics of any that are lowered/tinted windows and wheels. Preferably in silver but any colour car will be fine just so I can get an idea.

Lastly, is it worth doing anything to the engine apart from a service? I know the 16v is the more sought after one to mod but I've done conversions on Nova's and cant be arsed with that any more not on this anyway
Southie, actually tempting but I don't have time for a projcet
