Default Steering rack movement / play

Whats the best answer to take movement out of standard bushes in nova steering rack - harry hockley and protec do a different version of a solid mount? has anyone tried poly bushes - i cant find these listed anywhere for sale.

Also has anyone noticed there bulkhead flexing where the rack is mounted when the steering is moved

    any advice appreciated

    cheers

Welding the seams around the rack is a good start, solid mounts take out the rubber so there shouldn't be any movement with them fitted.

i've also seen people brace from their cages to the bulk head. Colin Smith's Hillclimb Nova has it, as does Craig Smith's track race car.

hockly only sells one solid mount, the left side I think, for the other mount they just use the original one and it costs £69,- ex. vat
protec supplies two solid mounts for £55,- ex vat.

the hockly mount is completely solid and the protect mounts have an hard plastic backplate
polybushes can be found en ebay

See if the poly bushes from Flo-flex combined with a Corsa B rack mounting bracket makes a difference before splashing out on Hockly stuff

FloFlex make the orange poly bushes. Usually I'd say steer clear but the rack bushes aren't too bad, and they're the only one that does them.

Protec sound like the ones to go for if going solid though!

thanks lads. Ive ordered the floflex ones from ebay already simply because im curious as to why their advertised for a nova - they look nothing like the nova rubbers?? - is this why your suggesting the corsa brackets?

Weve ordered hockleys option aswell as protecs as theres two cars to sort out so wel trial both and see whats best, will let you know what we think.

Ref the flex in the bulkhead both cars are fully seam welded, welding the seams around the rack makes no difference to the fact its flexing. Anyone seen this visably on their own car?
